In our design philosophy, we are interested in the intangible major forces that shape our world. We have used the technique of electromagnetic fields to create our Field Test Lamp and Jewelry collection and we are exploring more variations with this system.
A system that has inspired us lately has been Air and the deformation of materials created by air flow. Intangible forces are often underestimated. Clouds, Waterspouts, Canyons are examples of the shear force of Air. Understanding this force has enabled us to fly aircraft and harness its energy with Wind Turbines. With simulation software, scientist have just begun to visualize the complexity.
We are currently planning a field trip to Arizona to study the patterns of airflow that created many of the canyons there. We are planning on teaming up with an amazing landscape photographer who will show us some of the most rare and unique sites. Equipped with a 3D scanner, we hope to document the patterns by 3D printing sections and analyze its instances.
With 3D simulation software, we will reproduce our research with a computational computer model and then apply it to designed objects. These objects will be the host form for creating a new dimension of designing with nature.
We wanted to share our intention design intention and more on this subject will come soon.
